Vouch badges

A badge is a fact Vouch has checked by hand, like a licence or a phone number. Tap a badge on a profile to see exactly what we checked and when.

The badges

Phone verified: The business answers the number on its listing. Vouch sent a code to that number by WhatsApp or SMS, or called it. If the number changes, the badge ends.
Registered business — verified: The business is registered with the Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry (BCCAR), as a company or a business name. Vouch saw the certificate and looked it up in BCCAR's public search.
Trade licence — verified: The business holds a current trade licence from its town or city council, or its district trade licensing board. Vouch saw the licence; the badge ends on the licence's end date.
BTB licensed — verified: For hotels, guesthouses, tour guides and tour operators: Vouch saw a current Belize Tourism Board licence and checked it against the lists BTB publishes.
Licensed professional — verified: For doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lawyers, engineers, architects, accountants, electricians and vets: Vouch saw a current licence or registration from the body that regulates the profession.
Owner claimed: Vouch approved the person who manages the listing. It means they run the business, not that Vouch recommends it.

Badges are optional. Plenty of good people have none: a phone number and Vouches from customers are enough to be listed.
Badges are free and never sold. Nobody can pay for a badge, and paying Vouch never moves a business up in search.
A badge counts for a small part of how results are ordered, the same for every business.
A badge ends on the document's end date and disappears by itself. We remind the owner before it does.
Owners send a photo of their document. Only Vouch staff who check badges see it, and we delete it 90 days after we decide, keeping only the number and our decision.

Ask for badges from your business dashboard. It takes a photo of your licence and a few minutes.
